"Friends of the Library"

        The "Friends of the Library" group was organized in 1985.  Since that time, with the proceeds from the annual Spring Book Sales, along with membership dues, they have purchased many items to enhance the library, such as the mural above, which can be seen in the Children's Department. 

        Other accomplishment by the "Friend" include:

•  Purchased an automated circulation system

•  Purchased the "Once Upon a Time" statue

•  Purchased new furniture in the Teen Area

•  Purchased new furniture in the Magazine Area

•  Purchased security gates for both doors

•  Purchased the library's first laminator

•  Furnished the upstairs meeting room kitchen

•  Purchased board books for the Children's Department

•  Sponsors the Summer Programs each year

•  Sponsors the Online Newsletters

•  Purchased new public access computers

•  Sponsors a yearly used book sale, in which all proceeds directly benefit the library

•  Purchased a subscription to Ancestry.com

        The Friends' mission is to promote and help strengthen the library.  They meet the third Monday of each month at 10:00 am.  To become a member of this wonderful program or for more information, call the Miami Public Library at (918) 541-2292.
